Basic Form

Start small and go big afterward. In this section, we will guide you with the most basic way how to collect submissions from your static website form.

How to use - simplified

The simplified way to explain how to use Formcubes is:

When a visitor submitted a submission on your static site form, you send the data to us, then we handle the rest. You can configure where we send email notification or how we send it on our admin panel, no coding needed. Actually, you can do a lot more in our admin panel!

So, all you need to do is to point your form action attribute straight to our endpoint.

What you need to use Formcubes

In order to use Formcubes, here's what you need:

  1. A Formcubes account

  2. An HTML form

  3. A form endpoint generated by Formcubes

Let's get started

STEP 1 - Preparing your HTML form

Let's assume we will make a Contact Form for your static site. Let's say this is our HTML form :

<form action="#" method="POST">
<label for="email">Email Address</label>
<input type="email" id="email" name="email" required>
<label for="message">Message</label>
<input type="message" id="message" name="message" required>
<button type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>

The action="#" determines where submitted data will be sent. You need to replace the # with your Formcubes form endpoint, so when your visitor submitting a form their submissions is sent to our server to be handled.

That was what we mean by :

So, all you need to do is to point your form action attribute straight to our endpoint.

One thing important to note is

Every input field must have the name attribute defined, avoid to use $ and . character for name attribute

STEP 2 - Generate a form endpoint

To create a form endpoint you need to sign in to your Formcubes admin panel then click "New Form". Afterward you need to fill several fields :

  • Your form name (required) : Give your name a name to make your form easier to remind.

  • Send email notification to (required) : Email address that we will notify when you got a submission.

  • Don't worry you always can change this configuration later.

After you fill required fields then click "Create New Form", you will redirected to your form information page. You can see your form endpoint, copy it!

STEP 3 - Point your HTML form action attribute to our server

Let's back to our Contact Form from step 1 before. Now lets replace the # with your form endpoint. So, in the end your HTML will look like this:

<form action="https://api.formcubes.com/reg/v1/s/{your-form-id}" method="POST">
<label for="email">Email Address</label>
<input type="email" id="email" name="email" required>
<label for="message">Message</label>
<input type="message" id="message" name="message" required>
<button type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>

That's it, now you're ready to collect receive submissions.
